Descripción
Mapei brand Fugolastic is an aqueous dispersion of synthetic polymers that, mixed with cement-based products, improve the adhesion of the glue mortar when grouting between ceramic tiles.
CHARACTERISTICS
Fugolastic gives them the following properties:
- Greater compactness and resistance to abrasion
- Optimum hydration of the cement and better adhesion on the edges of the tiles
- Lower porosity (comparing the electron microscope photos of the cementitious matrix of a Keracolor mixed with water and another with Fugolastic, it is observed that in the second the acicular crystals of the cement are covered by polymer) and absorption; consequently, easier cleaning of the joints
Fugolastic can be mixed with Keracolor of any color, without altering them at all, on the contrary, fixing them permanently.
TO IMPORTANT NOTICES
- Never add water to the mixture of Keracolor FF or GG prepared with Fugolastic.
- Do not use mixtures that are too fluid to avoid exposure of Fugolastic or pigments.
- Do not use Fugolastic in the Keracolor FF or GG mixture for grouting terracotta floors or porous or rough surfaces. To grout polished porcelain stoneware, carry out a preliminary test to verify its cleanliness.
- The mixture of Keracolor FF or GG with Fugolastic cannot be used for elastic expansion joints and therefore subject to movement.
FIELDS OF APPLICATION
- Fugolastic replaces the mixing water of Keracolor FF and GG cement mortars, to improve adhesion, mechanical resistance and reduce porosity and absorption
- Together they are classified as CG2, cementitious mortar for joints, improved according to prEN 13888.
Some application examples
- Grouting on exterior facades, balconies, terraces and swimming pools
- Grouting on pavements subject to intense traffic and when special joint stresses are expected.
- Reconstruction of old damaged or poorly executed grouting between ceramic tiles
- Grouting of floors and coverings on particularly flexible supports (wood, etc.)
- Grouting ceramic or vitreous mosaic coverings
- Grouting of floors and coverings subjected to frequent washing, even with steam (gym and swimming pool locker rooms, dining rooms, etc.)
- Grouting terrazzo floors or other types of tiles that have to be polished on site
CONSUMPTION
- The consumption of Fugolastic depends on the expected consumption of Keracolor FF or GG (see the corresponding technical sheets)
