Descripción

Mape-Antique MC is a premixed powder mortar for dehumidifying and macro-porous plasters, free of cement, composed of lime and Eco-Pozzolana, natural sands, special additives and micro-fibers, with very low emission of volatile organic substances (EMICODE EC1 R Plus), according to a formula developed in the MAPEI research laboratories. Based on the EN 998-1 standard, the product is classified as R: “Mortar for sanitation. Mortar designed for interior/exterior plastering used on wet masonry walls containing water-soluble salts”, Category CS II.

CHARACTERISTICS

  • Mape-Antique MC, after mixing with water, to be carried out in a concrete mixer, is transformed into a mortar for dehumidifying and macroporous plasters, resistant to salts, with a plastic-thixotropic consistency, easily workable with a trowel, both on vertical and on roofs
  • Mortars made with Mape-Antique MC have very similar characteristics, in terms of mechanical resistance, elastic modulus and porosity, to those of mortars based on lime, lime and pozzolana or hydraulic lime, originally used in the construction of buildings.
  • However, with respect to these mortars, Mape-Antique MC has properties that give the product greater resistance to various chemical-physical attacks such as, for example, the presence of soluble salts, freeze-thaw cycles, and the washing action. of rainwater, the alkali-aggregate reaction and the appearance of plastic shrinkage cracks
  • The technical data table (in the Application Data and Final Performance sections) indicates some typical values referring to the main characteristics, both in the fresh and hardened state, of Mape-Antique MC.

TO IMPORTANT NOTICES

  • In the presence of rising humidity and soluble salts, apply Mape-Antique MC only after spreading a layer, about 5 mm thick, of Mape-Antique Rinzaffo
  • Mape-Antique MC must be applied in a thickness of no less than 20 mm
  • Do not use Mape-Antique MC as a mortar to pour into formwork (use Mape-Antique LC, mixed with aggregates of adequate granulometry)
  • Do not use Mape-Antique MC as a consolidation grout to inject into structures (use Mape-Antique I or Mape-Antique F21)
  • Do not use Mape-Antique MC to create “reinforced” plasters (use Mape-Antique Strutturale NHL)
  • Do not use Mape-Antique MC as a plastering mortar (use Mape-Antique FC Ultrafine, Mape-Antique FC Civile or Mape-Antique FC Grosso)
  • Do not add additives, cement or other binders (lime or plaster) to Mape-Antique MC
  • Do not use low thickness colored paints or coatings that could significantly modify the breathability and porosity of Mape-Antique MC and, therefore, hinder the evaporation of moisture present on the wall. Use products from the Silexcolor or Silancolor lines, lime-based paints or water-repellent treatments such as Antipluviol S or Antipluviol W
  • In the event that the structures to be cleaned are affected by strong capillary rise humidity or considerable concentrations of soluble salts, it is advisable to create, before applying the dehumidifying plaster, a horizontal chemical barrier (Mapestop type), in order to to minimize the penetration of moisture into the walls
  • Do not apply Mape-Antique MC at temperatures below +5°C

FIELDS OF APPLICATION

  • Rehabilitation of masonry walls degraded by the presence of capillary rise humidity, in existing buildings, even with historical and artistic value
  • Remediation of degraded walls due to the disintegrating action caused by saline concentrations
  • Reconstruction of lime-based plasters, degraded by atmospheric agents and environmental conditions, as well as by the passage of time

Some application examples

  • Creation of dehumidifying and macro-porous plasters, indoors and/or outdoors, on existing masonry walls affected by capillary rise humidity
  • Creation of dehumidifying and macroporous plasters, indoors and/or outdoors, on existing stone, brick, tuff and mixed masonry walls with the presence of saline efflorescence
  • Making dehumidifying plasters on walls in areas with lagoons or close to the sea
  • Carrying out new dehumidifying plasters or reconstruction of existing ones based on lime, on stone, brick, tufo and mixed masonry walls of buildings even classified as having historical and artistic value by the Administration
  • Carrying out “patch-up” interventions or replacement of elements on walls that present gaps and/or discontinuities.
  • Filling joints between stones, bricks and tufo elements, in “face” masonry
